Bishop Marcus E. Burns is the Pastor of Bethlehem Temple Word of Faith Apostolic Church located in Berkeley, California. He is also a spiritual voice to millions around the world including several International countries (via Skype and Facebook Live Stream). Bishop Marcus Burns was called into ministry to preach God’s word in 1994 under the tutelage of “Bishop Willie J. Burns”, his Pastor, Mentor, and Father. He became Assistant Pastor, under that administration, and has been the Senior Pastor for 15 years.
As a Second Generation Pastor who has a heart to teach God’s people in simplicity and in power, he recognizes that his God ordained assignment is to minister to the whole man, spirit, soul, and body with an emphasis on faith, the family, finances, and fellowship. If Bishop Burns were to give a base scripture for his ministry it would be, Acts 2:42, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers”.
Part of Bishop Burns, mission and desire is to “take God’s word to a hurting and lost generation” and he is committed to creating and cultivating an authentic church experience, which glorifies God and exceeds all expectations.
His unwavering compassion for people coupled with his faithfulness to build God’s people, purpose, power and praise will continue yielding great results in the Kingdom of God.
Bishop Burns understands the power of diversity and tries to assist each person using his passion for helping hurting people which shows itself in his personal life and ministry and within The Bethlehem Temple Church Ministries. Those ministries include a transitional house; a homeless ministry for broken families, for the lost, and for the those who are just in need of God‘s helping hand. The creation of multiple business opportunities allow people to get on their feet and have an income to take care of their families.
Bishop Marcus Burns unique speaking style and teaching delivers the Word in such a lightning-rod fashion that he makes you believe that all things really are possible with God; allowing the message to transcend both racial and gender barriers, enabling a diverse audience to understand and apply the teachings of Christ in their lives. His willingness to squarely confront issues often considered off limits in the church has endeared him to people seeking the relevance of the Gospel in their lives.
